Here are two beautiful hymns sung by Hafiz Sadettin Kaynak from the 1999 Kalan Mzik album "Kendi Sesinden".

The second file I believe is the first turkish azan ever recorded, after Mustafa Kemal came up with the idea that arabic (as well as islam, ottoman music, and pretty much everything else) was bad, and needed to be either modernized, westernized, or preferably, turkishized.

I don't want to get into politics, but this man wanted to wipe out turkish classical music and make everybody embrace harmony and the piano, talk about a weird sense of nationalism eh?

The second file I believe is the first turkish azan ever recorded, after Mustafa Kemal ...

Is that so?
What do you think this recording was produced? Maybe it was before Atatrk?
Unfortunately I only got the mp3 files of this music and no further information, but I thought that it is Sadettin Kaynak himself singing here, who passed away in 1961.
(coorected the date from 1916 to 1961 ). Hattouma

it is most definitely sadettin kaynak himself singing (if the ezan could be classified as such),

now regarding whether it's the first one ever recorded in turkish, if you say that Hafiz Sadettin died in 1916, then it is very probable; the law that forces everybody to call the ezan in turkish however, came in 1933, so it appears that Hafiz Sadettin recorded this of his own conviction, and not due to political pressure.

oh, and this is the album they came from, and it's interesting that the Turkce ezan is preceded immediately by one in arabic, further supporting the theory that the idea is Hafiz Sadettin and nobody else's.
