This partly solves a mystery. We already have 2 *different* versions of Ahl el-hawa supposedly 03-05-1956, and the file you just already is already on the forum as a 03-05-56 one, but it is not consistent with the concert of the whole night of 03-05-56 (see the very first variation on ahl el hawa, the whole night version 03-05-56 has "ahl el-hawa /stop", whereas the previous one has "ahl el-hawa ya lel / stop"). So it might be that was formerly presented by idha3at el-aghani as 03-05-56 was actually 07-03-57, with some problem around 1:01:22 and a montage of the end of 03-05-56 added to it with the salam malaki/gumhuri at the end of it.
In any case, your version is better quality and does not have a problem at the end, the speaker clearly mentions this is the 2nd wasla of the night.

BUT there is an obvious editing at 19:59. The nature of the voice and sound does not seem to be *exactly* the same afterwords : a mix with the 1956 concert? Lu'ay, what do you think ? This is a real nightmare...

Many thanks anyways

We now have 5 version of Ahl el-hawa :

- standard sono cairo, unknown concert
- cinema rivoli 11-11-1954 [3], knowing that the same night she also sang Ya Zalemni [2]
- azbakiyya 03-05-1956 [3]
- azbakiyya 07-03-1957 [2]
- damascus 08-08-1958

Thank you in advance Fawaz.
I'm surprised there's a 25-minute recording of this beautiful song. This would mean she
probably didn't improvise in the concert at all. Can it be the commercial version (the commercial version has absolutely no improvisations at all).

This is indeed possible, unless the commercial version is the uncomplete version of a longer concert.

I haven't listened to the file posted here by 7abib to date. But, 'idha'atu-l-'aghani broadcast yesterday the same recording (I mean it was 'ahli-l-hawa and they said it was from the concert of the 7th of March 1957). The presenter (mudhi'iu-l-hafl) indicated it was the second waslah and that the first one was sahran that we already have. I listened to the whole concert, although not with utmost concentration all the time, and I have the certainty that this is different from the May 56 concert. Besides, I didn't spot any trace of "montage" of the kind mentioned in detail by Fred and there was no salam gumhuri in the end. What I don't know yet is whether the two recordings (mine and 7abib's) are identical or not.

I already have to amend the previous statement. There is clearly the trace of editing around min 52. In yesterday's recording, the sound volume goes clearly down at that level and remains even till then end of the recording. Now, this doesn't necessarily means it comes from another concert. I think I remember Mahmoud mentioning the Egyptian radio people used to used 60 min tapes, which would explain this editing effect. As I previously said, no salam gumhuri in my copy recorded yesterday.
