The recording sounds like yesterday, not 80 years old.

Would it shock you if I said that I prefer such 'ud players as Qasabgi, Sunbati and even 'abdi-l-fattah Sabri?

No, it's just that 78rpm ‘ud records are very scarce, and Amin al-Mahdi's are one of the few exceptions, and I must admit I really like this rendition of the sama3i. Are there any Qasabgi recordings of the classical repertoire ?
