I realized there are no examples of Kuranic cantillation by Ali Mahmud on the forum.
This tilawa in the melismatic tagwid form was recorded around 1935-1940 by the Egyptian radio, and re-issued in 1984 on a Sono Cairo cassette (84087). It starts as standard bayyati dukah, then explores many modes in a rich and quiet exploration, extremely different in its aesthetic principles from the pyrotechnics of Abd al-Wahhab Tantawi, and nevertheless very enjoyable.
