    إفتراضي Elleyl Yetawwel

Sorry due to technical reasons (something really stupid with windows movie maker) I could not upload the whole song.

Until I overcome this difficulty, here's a part of Taktouket Elleyl Yetawwel we Ykedni by Zakaria.

Sung here by a very young Rima Kcheich With the Beirut Arbic Group lead by Salim Sahhab in mid eighties.

I love this taqtuqah. I don't know whether I wrote this on a previous occasion, but I have mixed feelings. On the one hand Rima's voice is incredibly nice, but she doesn't sing "from her chest", which is a pity. As a consequence, the voice is too "flat". I don't know whether you see what I mean.

    إفتراضي Hi

I really do need a long course on the "type of voices" on how to produce them, because it's been puzzling me for me a while.

That was my first impression when I heard her Dayya'ti Mosta'bal Hayati, which is what I meant by "modern vocal production style" (if I recall correctly my words), although in itself, it doesn't bother much, it does appear to prevent her from doing certain ornaments I've become used to in this kind of music.

I think we'll just have to get used to it, we can't expect people to retrain their voices just to please us puritans and fundemantalists.

In any case, it is a marvellous effort, and perhaps our Najib can send her a whole collection of adwar in mp3 including all of Fred's treasures.

    إفتراضي Oh that I will

    Oh that I will

And trust me this is the first thing that I'll do if I manage to see her this summer inshallah.

I really like Rima, she's a ray of sunshine in a very gloomy environment!

Thank you so much, Najib. I just noticed this post. Rima's voice is beautiful indeed. The song is BEAUTIFUL, which reminds me: I haven't heard it for a long time from Om Kulthoum, which I'm going to do now.

I do read/understand English, but still, if you can upload the complete recording, I'd appreciate it very much :-)

    Thanks again.

إفتراضي On Rima Khashish's performance "Illayl yetawwil"

Thanks to Mr. Najib for posting Rima's video. I hope that after so many years he can post the entire video. It is a performance worth posting.
